Youth Cafe

The “Vue… youth club has been running since April 07. It was started originally as there was no other youth provision in the area. We were finding that the children who came through the children’s work were then disappearing off when getting to the age of 11. The youth club was very basic to start with, and there weren’t a lot of resources, but there began to be a regular group of about 10 young people from around the area; some who had contact with the church from children’s programmes and some who hadn’t. The youth club runs on a Monday night at 6pm till 7:30pm.

The youth club has since grown and developed and there is a core group of approximately 20 young people aged 11-14. It’s a very informal setting with various activities to engage with and thankfully we have three members of dedicated staff working with this group and a lot more resources than when we first started.

When setting up the youth club, we felt as a ministry team that it was important to be honest and open about our beliefs and our faith and to take the opportunities presented to us. We also have a five minute “talk… slot which presents the gospel to the young people. This can either be on a particular topic; a testimony from one of the helpers or even an open question time for the young people to ask questions.

In March 08 we took a group of young people up to Barcaple outdoor activity centre, which was great fun and a great chance to get to know the young people better as well as providing a good opportunity for them to experience new things. We hope to do residentials and trips a lot more over the next few years.

Vue youth club is every Monday at 6pm - 7.30pm

Youth Café

Youth café is essentially a drop in for 14-19 year olds, its held once a week on a Sunday evening 8pm till 10pm, in the Church café area.

Its a safe and relaxed environment where the young people can 'chill' with their friends and meet new people. With a Ps2, board games and a pool table not to mention a variety of soft drinks and snacks.

Youth Café every other Sunday 8pm - 10pm

Youth Work

Not everyone wants to be part of a youth group or access centre based youth work, - hence, it is also really important that those young people can also access youth provision in other ways. Furthermore, we also do detached youth work around the area of Belle Vue. This is very informal and consists of walking around the area and chatting to young people as well as having a game of football on the park or playing cards. It is a very different style of youth work but is important as it engages with those young people who may otherwise lose out on youth provision.
