Centre Based Youth Work
Building upon the relationships established in the Detached work, the team can begin to move young people that are ready to engage along the process of transition into responsible adulthood and to provide them with the Life and Social Skills that are needed to succeed. In the Centres operated by the Trust, in particular The Well in the City Centre, a range of drop in sessions at different times of the day throughout the week are being established to provide a regular and accessible point of contact and means of advice for young people. Through partnering with appropriate Statutory and other Voluntary sector bodies, the engagement and trust we have established with the young person can enable them to access information on a range of topics relevant to their needs, eg Connexions, Personal health and hygiene, healthy eating etc.
At the heart of the work we will offer will be the continued and sustainable work of engaging with the individual and either signposting them on or dealing with the query ourselves, but all the time walking with the young person in the process to ensure they have an advocate and a listening ear.
One of the larger rooms in 'The Well' is being developed into an internet cafe style of room providing direct information to those wishing to access the internet and providing space for people to sit, chat, engage and receive whatever additional help and support they need.
